What's new
Only the things that change what Prefill does for you. Bug fixes and plumbing are not listed.
Version 1.1
in review

Waiting on Chrome Web Store review. Your copy updates itself once it is approved; you can check which version you have at chrome://extensions.
It fills more of the form
- Applications inside an embedded frame now work. Greenhouse, Lever and a lot of iCIMS serve the application from another site inside the page, and Prefill could not read a single field of it before. This is the biggest gap in 1.0 and it is closed.
- Menus that only look like dropdowns. Plenty of application forms build their own instead of using a real one; those are now filled like any other field.
- Values that used to bounce back. On forms built with modern frameworks a filled value could silently revert on the next keystroke. Prefill now fills the way your keyboard does and checks the value stuck.
- Rebuilding from a résumé can be undone. The parser has to guess where one job ends and the next begins, and on a résumé written in paragraphs it used to name a job after the last sentence of the one above it. It reads those far better now, and if a rebuild still comes out wrong, one button puts your Experience back exactly as it was.
- Work history that adds one job at a time. Forms with an "add another position" block are filled job by job, in order, including From and To month-year pairs.
It shows you what it did
- Fields that already match your profile are listed as verified. A part-filled application used to look identical to one Prefill had not read, so you re-checked everything by hand. Now the panel says what it checked and found correct.
- It only offers what the form is actually missing, instead of listing every field it recognises.
Files: more than one résumé
- A Files tab. Keep several résumés, certificates, licences or cover letters. Drag them in, and attach any of them to a form's upload field in one click.
- A résumé per profile. If you keep separate profiles for separate kinds of role, each one carries its own résumé and Prefill attaches the right one. When two profiles point at the same file, the row says which ones, so "this profile's" never looks stuck.
On job boards
- Postings you have already applied to are marked before you open them, not after you have filled the form again.
- With Premium, a posting can be scored against your profile with the reasons and the gaps spelled out.
- Applications you have closed fold away. Archiving or rejecting one moves it under a "Closed" heading instead of leaving it in the middle of the list. Nothing is deleted.
It refuses to remember the wrong things
- An identity number is never saved, whatever the field calls itself: anything shaped like a Social Security number, a payment card, a bank routing number or an IBAN is refused on sight, and anything typed into a password or sign-in field is ignored. If an earlier version already learned one, it is found and deleted.
- Half of a date is not an answer. Filling an employment block used to teach Prefill that "Year" is 2021 and "Month" is June, which is only true of the row it came from. Those are refused now, and anything an older version learned is offered for removal in one click.
- Prefill can be switched off on the page entirely. One toggle and it draws nothing on any site. It also never appears on anything you print.
Your data, and your money
- Drafted answers no longer carry your name. When Premium drafts an answer, your name, email, phone, street address and date of birth are stripped before anything is sent. Protected-class answers never left the device and still do not.
- Erase everything. One button in Settings clears every profile, answer, file, résumé and tracked application from this browser. It keeps your Premium licence, because that is a receipt, not personal data.
- A reminder before you are charged. Premium tells you in the extension before a renewal goes through, and cancelling is one button to Stripe's billing portal.
- The AI stays in its lane. If the text you ask it to draft describes a crisis rather than a job question, it gives you a number to call instead of writing a paragraph for a form.
Less to wade through
- Settings is organised. Every section is a card that says what it is for. Uploading and downloading documents live in the Files tab now instead of being repeated here, and deleting all your data is folded away at the bottom where it belongs, not sitting beside the buttons you use.
- Any saved entry can be removed from the list itself. A job, a school, an address or a reference used to have to be opened first to find Remove, so a half-typed row looked like something the form demanded. One ✕, confirmed with a second click.
- The application list lines up. Rows carrying a stage no longer squeeze their own boxes narrower than the rows around them.
Usable without a mouse
- Everything is reachable from the keyboard: the tabs move with arrow keys, and the menus open, move and choose without a pointer.
- Hint and label text is easier to read. The quietest grey in the interface failed the standard contrast minimum; it does not any more.
- Results are announced. A screen reader now hears what a fill did instead of nothing at all. Details on the accessibility page.
Version 1.0
released
31 July 2026
The first public release: one saved profile, filled into any application form you point it at, with nothing submitted for you.
- Fill contact details, address, work history, education, EEO questions and work authorization on the page in front of you, reviewed before anything is entered.
- Learns a screener answer once and offers it the next time a site asks the same thing differently.
- Matching runs on your own machine, on a model bundled inside the extension.
- Attach a saved résumé to an upload field in one click.
- Tells you when you have already applied somewhere.
- A tracker for what you applied to, licences and certifications with expiry warnings, an encrypted backup file, and a side panel for editing while you work.
What has never changed
Prefill has never submitted an application for you and never will. Your profile lives on your device. Nothing is uploaded unless you turn on a Premium AI feature and use it.
